Moving Labels in a CAD-Only Landscape report

What is the trick to moving labels in the CAD-only landscape report? I can right-click on the CAD object, edit it and change the number of labels on it, but it doesn't redistribute to the other pages. For example, I have 10 points and I want 5 on the first page, 3 on the next and 2 on the last page. When I change the number of labels on page1, it does change the count to five, but it may be points 1,2,6,7,10. I would like points 1-5 on one page, 6-7 on page two and 9-10 on page three.
  • not familiar with the CAD-only landscape report, but in text report you just use "/formfeed" for each spot you want to force a page break.

To do what you want you would need to create a 'Custom Report'. Change your edit window to summary mode, create a cad object in the custom report, then drag your dimensions from the edit window into the cad object in the custom report.
  • Make a copy of CADONLYLANDSCAPE report template.

Edit it, and Add a TextReportObject into a small area of the report (as shown)

Right click on it for the properties and switch all the SHOW... options to Off or None.

Click on Rules, and import EMPTY.RUL (which can be found in the reporting directory).

Right click on the CAD Report Object and on the Label Layout property change the Layout Style to Feature Based Restricted - set a default value.

This will now make the CAD Report Object behave as it does on a TextAndCAD report (in that it's reported in program order).

Save it and load it into your program.

Now right click on the CAD in the report window and set the number of labels you want for each page (make sure to tick the Apply to Page Only option)

You will need to refresh the report after each page but it should remember it for future executions.

  • If you are in the report window you can double click on the label you want to move, and drag it to the location you want.
  • Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and wanted to chime in on this topic. I recently had to deal with the same issue when working on a CAD-only landscape report.

After doing some searching, I found this article from jscustomlandscaping.com that helped me out. It talks about using the CAD Object Properties window to manually order the objects and labels so they appear in the order you want. It's a bit tedious, but it did the trick for me. So if you're in the same boat and trying to figure out how to move labels, hopefully this can really help you out.
