If you are willing, I'd like to get an idea on something. I am wondering what the CMM Programmer pay range is nowadays. People who are willing, what is your location, pay and experience? I am nearly finished with an Engineering degree and just want to be sure I want to stay a CMM Programmer or move into an Engineering type role...
I am in Connecticut...top tier CMM Programmers (fully trained on CMM as well as a competent inspector when it comes to plate layout) with Q.E. or management responsibilities sprinkled in there are worth $30-$40/hr
Seems fair... I was a First Article Layout group leader before I got into CMM's. Now I am considered a Q.E. Tech/CMM Programmer. How many years experience do you have?

Nice! I started CMM Programming at 21 years old, 25 now. I still have more to learn but I feel as if I can do just about anything except some of the coding/custom reporting type of things.

I'm in Michigan. 20 years (I feel old just typing that) experience doing everything from floor inspector to interim quality manager. 7 of that has been as a CMM operator/programmer. I actually moved to a new company last year. At that time, there were CMM postings from $15/hour up to $35/hour. I'm an intermediate level programmer with good plate layout skills and a degree in computer programming. I was getting cold calls from places wanting me to come in for interviews. In my area, if you are half way decent at programming and inspection, you can easily get about $25-$35/hour.
I'm a metrology engineer, basically i exclusively program CMM's execute gage studies and equivalency studies, i'm $40-ish/hr (salaried). I have >20 years of experience, in Phoenix, AZ
