Just started yesterday. When I try to calibrate my disc (A-5000-7310) the machine will take a hit on the bottom of the disc then it will take 3 more hits on the bottom of the disc towards the edge of the disc, then it measures the outside of the disc.
Analog or touch trigger head? What I've learned from here is that analog scanning head behave that way and touch trigger heads don't have to take a hit on the top of the sphere.
Are you using your master probe first answering yes and the no for the disc probe? Check your DCC+DCC options as well in the measure dialog window. You might have to select just DCC, i don't remember.
I think DCC+DCC would take hits on the top of the sphere before starting. I use disc probes on both touch trigger and scanning heads. Maybe someone else can chime in here buddy. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
If you're using TP20 maybe put controller in turtle mode and Calibrate manually. or in DCC starting -15, end 15. Your Disc are just a slice of a sphere, wondering to far from the Calibration spheres center result in bad hits.
Select MAN-DCC and NO (it has not moved) given that you have a separate master probe. When you start the calibration it will demand that you take a hit at 0,0,Number (RAD of calibation spere). Go manually at the side and take a hit in either X or Y Axis in the equator of the sphere and press ok. Go slowly...
When I tried to calibrate a disc probe with DCC+DCC then it took 4 hits on the top (ZPLUS vector) and machine error out. When I changed the calibration just to DCC, it worked perfectly. Hopefully it will help.
Ive seen this solution posted from someone in the forum before. I dont recall the thread but here is the example they gave and it has helped me with calibrating disc probes
" How to find start / End Angle on Disc Probe Calibration
you can use this calculation to figure out your start-end angle.
example:
18mm disc dia x 2mm thick Calibrate using only 70% of the disk thickness (out of square comp.)
2mm x .70 = 1.4mm
half of 70% thickness 1.4mm / 2 = .7mm Half probe dia. 18mm/2=9mm Calculate the angle from horizontal center line to half disk thickness
