Thread Diameter

Good afternoon,

We are measuring a threaded hole using an autofeature circle, and we have a pitch value entered. Our concern is that when we dimension the position of that hole in Legacy, the diameter does not report changes. It reports changes in the location and computes the true position, but the diameter dimension never changes. We have lots of other programs where we report threaded holes this way, and the diameter changes on these. Granted, we don't care what the diameter is, we check that with a thread gage, but some of our people are concerned that because it doesn't report diameter changes, it might not be reporting the location correctly. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Hello everyone! I am looking for help on qulaifying position of threaded holes. I think I have the pitch correct for a 10-32 hole to be 0.03125". I have the ending degree to be set to 720°, but where I am unclear is the depth and offset? I have read on other forum posts that there is a specfic amount to be accurate. I do not know how to get this nor how this is derived. May I have some advice to get the best results from this autofeature? also with how to configure the position reporting. I see that Least Squares for the Datums and Considered Features gives me the lowest results. I am trying to get position and I think its my inaccurate measuring of the threaded holes that is giving me such an out of dimension result. Report is showing almost twice the allwoed tolerance zone. Please help?

Global Advatage 7.10.7, running PC DMIS 2020R2 (but I have PCDMIS 2021.1 and PCDIMS 2022.1 also) 3x50 ceramic stem stylis.

How do I report position of 6 x 10-32 threaded holes and the Bolt Cirlce?
