CMM crashes on probe changer lids

Hello to you all,

I've recently installed the HR-MP 6 port probe changer on one of our CMMs. It was calibrated and successfully changed probes without issue. However, when I close the lids, instead of pushing the covers over when picking up a probe, it moves over slightly above the lid then crashes on top. I've tried playing with the (before and after pick-up distances) and (edit the probe data) to try and "force" the CMM to slide the lids over before picking up a probe. I would assume the probe changer should operate with the lids closed but for now I'm leaving them open. Is there anything I need to change to make this work with the lids closed?

  • Hexagon has a history of releasing probe racks with various configurations, and as a fix, they have a toggle in the FDC for "xxxxchangertype" (xxxx being the type of probe changer, like my "X1changertype" for HP-S-X scanning probe).

they also have hard to find instruction in their help file for each probe changer type. Of which, some calibration procedures require rather odd and specific probes (some are barrels, some are regular 2x20, some are 5x20 named a specific probe name) it's kinda a mess. It looks like you found the in instruction, so make 100% sure you follow the probe naming and type, exactly as the instruction dictates.
