i have a long part i need to measure in two stages. is there a way to have PCDMIS add them together for the total length?

Yes i have a fixture that holds the bar with a tooling hole in the center then measure from the hole to the end planes after aligning and leveling to the planes

using 2017 service pac 1

Part don't come out of fixture just rotate the part and fixture as 1 unit

Maybe Assign/Total_Length=dist1.meas+dist2.meas . Then construct a generic point to output and report the total length?

sounds like "Equate Alignment" is what you want. Search the forum there are some good examples.
