No Report

Good morning,

So, today, we can't print reports. Someone screwed with our rig last night. Now instead of printing a report, a screen pops up that is called "output file name" . Nothing I seem to click on helps me in any way. I had a copy of the program I was working with saved as a safety, and it doesn't work either. Any suggestions.

Thanks.
  • The report won't print even through the output file name dialog?
  • Maybe, but it was hid behind edit screen. What happened when the reports failed to save was that the little dialog box that counts off the number of pages as they save would pop up, and then that box, and everything else would freeze up. The edit screen was frozen, the graphics screen was frozen. It was only when I quit the program that I found the output file name dialog. And then there was nothing to save. Went and checked the parts I needed to check on another machine. After I read your response, I tried to print the report screen. I was able to do that, but the output box was then visible. Had to make a folder to save it into, but it worked.

I guess I'm ignorant about this, lol and other things, but I've never seen the output file name dialog before. When I make a new program, I go to file/printing/report windowprint setup/ and then I'm at the Output configuration box. I use it to make a path, and whenever I save a report, it all works automatically. I just change the dates and other specifics, and push save. Easy peezy.

Not sure where this thing came from. Can i shut it off? Have I always needed it and just didn't know it?

Thanks for your help, I'm going home for the weekend. Maybe I'll know better Monday.

  • The pdf printing has got messed up (usually caused by a Windows update).

There are a number of fixes, but I find simply running a repair install of PCDMIS works best.

If you try install PCDMIS, it will see that it already exists and ask if you want to repair it, say yes and it should all be sorted.

  • We'll try that this morning. Just as soon as I get to work.

I've never actually installed PCDMIS myself. Our IT department has done it in the past. Are there some easy steps to follow?

    Thanks for your help.

This was the solution at one stage for print commands stopping working in Windows 10.

The registry setting H_KEY_CURRENT_CONFIG/SOFTWARE/PCDMIS 50 CONVERTER the logged in PC user needs to have full access rights to this registry setting to allow print commands to work in Windows10.
  • Our IT staff has gotten pretty proficient at reinstalling the PDF printer for PD-DMIS, since I refuse because it's they're updates that keep screwing it up.
  • Another solution is to go to your PCDMIS install folder and look for a folder named "PDFDriverInstallFiles". There's a readme file in there that will walk you through reinstalling the drivers.
  • All good stuff,

We actually don't have administrative rights here, so I. T. is going to come over to see me in a bit. I'll show them a copy of this and things will be good then.

  • There is joy in Mudville again. We showed our I. T. department a copy of the suggestions from the forum, and they went with reinstalling the drivers. Works great now.

    Thanks a bunch.
