Transfer of the entire program in one axis

Hello,

I am looking for a solution how to move the whole program with all elements in one axis. Normally when I have the left and right sides of a part from a car, I use the mirror option. However, now I need to move the entire program in one Y axis by -1252 to overlay it on the left side CAD.
I searched the help "F1" and the forum and the only thing I found so far is the option "pattern" and "paste with pattern". However, this option will change the names of the points (add increments) and force the report layout pattern to be created anew.

Is there any mirror-like option that, instead of doing a flip, shifts the program in an axis/ by vector?

  • Haven't tried this but it "should" work.....

On a COPY of your program insert a new alignment that shifts the origin by the amount that you need. When it asks if you want to update movements then say NO. Movements should then be updated but your report actuals will be off by the amount of the shift.

You will also need to translate the CAD by your desired shift as well.
  • A similar option to what said. You can insert a temporary alignment that shifts the coordinate by the desired amount. Then, when the pop-up message asks if you would like to update the dependent commands, choose NO. Then, delete the temporary alignment that was just created. This time, when it asks if you want to update the dependent commands, choose YES. That updates all the measurements as if you had originally programed the features in that new position.
  • I used to use this method as a way of helping people get their heads around what those warnings mean back when I was an AE and still delivered training - many moons ago.
  • Thanks for your help, after a few tries it worked. But for those with the same problem, I'll also add that you have to be careful with your workplane selection to move the "move points" correctly. It's also easier to do it in a program without any alignment (I deleted all aligment - made transfer - add all old aligments).
