I have a 2017 SF4.5.4 CMM and we're looking at finally adding some more touch probe modules. One of the TPMs I was looking for is the HP-TM-SF (0393917US). When I looked for one on Hexagon's website they don't seem to have an exact match. The current model number is HP-TPe-SF (03939302). Are these interchangeable?
Also, as I was Googling the first model number I came across the fact that Renishaw also sells what looks to be identical TPMs. If I'm not mistaken it seems like Renishaw makes them and Hexagon sells them rebranded. Would I be correct in assuming this and are Renishaw's TPMs compatible with Hexagon products?
I tried asking my contact at Hexagon if they still sell the original touch probe modules but they didn't seem to know.
I have used both Renishaw and Hexagon modules on a TP20 body and have had excellent result. I don't know what the module numbers were though and I haven't worked at either of the places I used them for several years.
I've used both over the years and never noticed a difference aside from the Renishaw modules were usually cheaper and didn't have the matching arrow symbols. If you have a probe rack it makes no difference though.
Hexagon is now selling and seems like only selling compact touch trigger probes. They don't sit the the same in the probe body. I have a HP-TB and HP-TBe on my desk and the HP-TMe module wiggles a little in the HP-TB but fits snugly in the HP-TBe.
You might have to ask after market sales or parts at hexagon for the correct part you need.
Renisahw's tp20s are interchangeable with hexagon HP-TB probe body. They are just a different color. I usually buy probe modules from a Renishaw distributor. They are faster as sending quotes than Hexagon.
Thank you so much for this insight! I have a HP-TB body so the Renishaws will probably be the way to go since Hexagon doesn't seem to be selling any non "e" modules.
I had to deal with all of this when our probe body died. And hexagon had a difficult time figuring out there part numbers as well. I don't remember what the original probe body number was but it was replaced with a new on with part # HP-THDe-B. Which wasn't even listed on their site. On another note, I wish they still sold the old "silly puddy" looking probe contact cleaner strips.
