Can you use some linear open scans and one point for a best fit alignment?
this is on a airfoil or a turbine blade root.

I think it depends on the scan (known theo or not) and on the number of DOF locked.
In any case, a point lock only 1 DOF (except auto center point !), so the scan should lock the 5 others.
