Can someone explain what is the difference between this and the other standard stylus module (puck)? I’ve attached a picture. I was told this one can hold longer probes?
So I used a 150mm extension with a 5X50 and for some reason when I measure a circle, it’s way off from where it should be. It’s only happening with that probe. Does this need to be calibrated with certain settings? It also doesn’t actually scan the entire circle.
Nope. There is specific name for it in the dropdown menu. You can't use standard puck name for this because it's longer. You might get a crash or out whack dimensional results.
Likely pc dmis doesn't know cmm holds that probe setup. There is specific name for it in the drop down menu I'm not at the computer right now though. Find the name see how the CAD of it looks like, select & calibrate again. Reduce speed to minimum before machine hitting the sphere.
Forgot to mention I actually used a regular puck. I ended up recalibrating as well and it still did the same thing. I think it’s the probe but, I don’t know what else to use to get in there.
Emdee, did you get any better results from this, you should be measuring at the same speed of qualification, if you are getting good results from the qualification of the tip, no reason to expect a bad result from the measurement
Fradders I just tried that and it measured the ring gage good. Now I try and measure one of those holes and it does the same thing. Then I tried a different probe and measured that same hole and my true position is at .0057.
