Windows 11 on 2017 R2

Our IT manager pushed Windows 11 on us and he says it works b/c at his location the CMM's are working well.

I warned everyone this would be a problem, but they went forward, and to my amaze after some reboots, it worked. Some CAD models didn't show up, but we fixed that.

I reached out to Hexagon support and got the typical "2017 does not work on Windows 11 see link..."
https://support.hexagonmi.com/s/article/Which-versions-of-Windows-will-my-PC-DMIS-software-run-on-1527312081507

I'm well aware of this link and previously provided it to our IT dept as they updated us last month to Windows 11.

It did work today for the most part....would you all be concerned of a serious crash or something?

Thanks.

  • It might work, but it wont be supported in the event it does crash and ruin your data. I am updating my 2017 programs to 2022 with no issues, except I rebuild my probes from scratch in 2022. My Windows 11 machine is slated for later this summer.
and you might be aware of the difference in GD&T platform? you could upgrade to 2020R1 without having to update some of your GD&T dimensions.
