FDC under firewall

Instead of connecting FDC using direct PC via ethernet card, what's the risk if we connect the FDC to a switch behind firewall?

    I assume from the PC to the controller is a peer to peer network connection? if that's true (assumption) then you can't just loop it over a switch.

    The IT specialist at your company can certainly tell you more about whether you can set up such a connection via your home network.

    But my half-knowledge tells me that's likely not possible, you'll probably have to lay two cables after all.​
