Is there a single box dimension callout?

Hi everyone,
I have a question for you, an engineer said measurement software should give a single reading if the FCF does not have a Ø in front of the tolerance. When I see a FCF that has no diametrical symbol I report it as a + / - in the two axes. When I see the diametrical symbol, I report it as TP, giving a singular reading. My question is, is there a way to report a single reading for a box dimension callout? I have never heard of a single reading for a box dimension, but maybe there is. I prefer to use legacy dimensioning and I am using pcdmis 2022.1.

The symbol before the tolerance represents the shape of the tolerance zone. To locate a slot for example, you would only report 1 axis. You select the axis from the position dialog box.

A position of .010 in 1 axis only is a zone of .010 or same as +/-.005. A " BOX" dimension is called BASIC.

The measured value for a geometric tolerance should always be a single value. The single measured value can be derived from one, two, or three directional values and is dictated by the symbol (or lack thereof) preceding the size of the tolerance zone. No symbol implies a planar tolerance zone, a case in which the measured value is derived from a single directional value. A diameter symbol implies a diametrical tolerance zone, a case in which the measured value is derived from two directional values. A diameter symbol preceded by the letter "S" implies a spherical tolerance zone, a case in which the measured value is derived from three directional values.

Jacob, if I am interpreting your answer correctly, the FCF with no symbol you would report each positional axis, example, X and Y giving a ± tolerance. As I mentioned, the engineer said measurement software should report for a planer tolerance zone as a single reading, just like a TP callout. Is there any format for this, I do not believe so.

Your engineer is correct, you will have to use exactmeasure or whatever the new version is called.

Open the true position dimension box

Set the datum definitions if not already done, select the feature to be evaluated.
In the feature control frame editor de-select the diameter symbol by clicking on it, this will open a drop down click in the blank area to de-select.
This will make a new button appear named Planar Zone click on that and set the correct planar zone direction.

TonyYaka using Legacy, you must set your alignment as the DRF requires. Then, you can report the position along a single axis like you have selected in your attached image. You should have the nominal and measured location on the report, along with a measured position (along one axis it should simply be twice the deviation along the single axis).

Just so I understand: In legacy, if your alignment was not the DRF and you select Use Datums/Fit to Datums, that would not give you the results from the DRF? If so, what is the purpose of the Use Datums/Fit to datums for?
