Reporting MMC with MMB

Hello,

I have a problem with reporting position of a hole.
I'm a bit confused of how to report this in pcdmis.

Using PC-DMIS 2017 R1 SP10

Drawing frame:

ASME Y14.5
Is this correct?
If it is, then what is the actual bonus of position? Also do I take into account deviations of Dat A and Dat B?
What is my actual result and what is the bonus.

Thanks in advance.

  • Both ways are "correct" in that you set up the feature control frame as it's shown on the drawing. To properly compute the MMB size of a datum feature, you must have the appropriate geometric tolerances to datums of higher precedence previously defined in the program.

Ideally you'll set up an orientation tolerance on A with respect to [Z] and a position tolerance on B with respect to [Z|A(M)]. Without these, PC-DMIS will assume a geometric tolerance of 0 at MMC which may likely be violated, causing the datum feature to show OOT.

A measured value of 0 is not a bad thing for a considered feature. It simply tells you that the part would fit a functional gage. If you want a measured value that is better for controlling your process, remove the material modifiers on your datum references and report that as a reference.
