I need to find Symmetricity of to ends DClin2 and DClin3 with reference to Datum-D. So first I constructed mid Lin of DC lin2 and DC lin3. They are 103 mm.distance away from each other. I don’t know wheather hole can be considered directly as a Datum D. If not, I would construct a vertical line passing through hole Datum D just like DC lin2 and DClin3. And consider this construct line as a Datum D. In this condition I may need Lin vector and surface vector to construct line. I would consider line vector 0,1,0 and surface vector 0,0,1. Do I have to change work plane to construct this line? If yes, would it be -x work plane? Because it is located 51.5 mm from origin and x coordinate remain same.
You can use these feature types:
widths, constructed mid planes, constructed mid lines, and constructed mid points
PC-DMIS constructs the toleranced feature differently based on the standard you use (ASME Y14.5 or ISO 1101).
ISO 1101 (or with a constructed mid feature or a 1D width):
PC-DMIS constructs the toleranced feature in the same ways as position toleranced features do.
ASME Y14.5 with a 2D or 3D width:
PC-DMIS provides an option to switch between MEDIAN_POINTS or AXIS:
AXIS - The software constructs the toleranced feature as the axis (center-plane) of the unrelated mating envelope (this is the same as position tolerances).
MEDIAN_POINTS - The software constructs the toleranced feature from all median points of the width. It does this according to paragraph 7.7.2 of ASME Y14.5 2009."
