I don't know what's going on with your machine, I do exactly what Matthew D. Hoedeman does and it works for me. I can switch back and forth between a TP20 and our HP-S-X1H scanning head in the middle of programs. All of our machines have TP20s, but one of them came with a scanning head, then we bought a TP20 setup for it because I didn't want to have to create 2 different versions of every program just to use that machine. We don't use the scanning head very often, mainly for reverse engineering or very tight tolerances- pretty much when we need to be as accurate as possible.
