Changing from SP25 to TP20

Just as the title says, I am wanting to swap from our current setup to the TP20.

This morning I removed the SP25 scanning setup and placed on the TP20. After I did this, I was unable to get the CMM to move. Spoke to Renishaw and they said I need blanks to go on the end of the multiwire on the probe head? I'm not sure what I am needing to do.

Equipment used currently - PH10QM/SP25M/SP25-2 = PHC10-2 Probe Head Controller. PCDMIS 2020R1

Any input would be appreciated.

  • I don't know what's going on with your machine, I do exactly what does and it works for me. I can switch back and forth between a TP20 and our HP-S-X1H scanning head in the middle of programs. All of our machines have TP20s, but one of them came with a scanning head, then we bought a TP20 setup for it because I didn't want to have to create 2 different versions of every program just to use that machine. We don't use the scanning head very often, mainly for reverse engineering or very tight tolerances- pretty much when we need to be as accurate as possible.

I spoke with Renishaw today and they said I need a plug blank to go on my multi wire at the probe head? I used the information from the previous post to swap out that way and I can get the Cmm to move without error, but it will not register hits. Possible bad TP20 body?

I am going to look for another spare to try to try and rule that out.
