0.5mm or 0.7mm probe calibration settings

I am using a 0.7X20mm probe (long thin shaft). What are the best calibration settings for this probe? It keeps failing calibration for a few tip angles (.0004 deviation). I am using DCC+DCC 31 hits (5 levels) with a start angle of 10 and end angle of 90.

  • Well 2mm/sec is definitely way too fast...both of my machines failed for countless tip angles with this speed (.0004-.0005 STDDEV). I am going to use 0.5mm/sec on both machines. Hopefully that keeps it to .0003-.0004 STDDEV. It looks like we measure with 2mm/sec hitspeed. I suppose we should turn it down to 0.5mm/sec whenever we call up this probe in our programs.
