Read Point Alignment

I have just started doing read point alignments because it is easier for the non CMM people to run a program. I wrote a read point alignment program without any problem. Now I am writing a program and the CAD is in car position. I create the read point and align the point, I get an error stating the position is out. Is a read point alignment different when using CAD in car position?

  • Interesting. I exclusively use READPOINTS unless I need to use a iterative. I just TRANSFORM the model and put the origin where I want to start and create my READPOINT there. As long as the actual part is setup fairly close to how I have it on the cad, the READ POINT works great. I would assume you could do this and then build the CAR POSITION ALIGNMENT at the end.
