Surface profile Min Max identical but minus plus

We have looked around and can't figure why in xactmeasure that almost all the surface profiles recently are reporting the same Min Max except one,is positive one negative.(ie. .0134 and -.0134)

We will have 2 of 8 that have diff values then the other 6 identical.

Thoughts?

  • It's dependent on how the profile is dimensioned. A profile with no datum will typically show the same value ± because it's a form only callout allowing PCDmis to best fit the profile until the highest deviation equals the lowest. Similarly, a profile that is not locked to all 6 degrees of freedom is allowed to float in the unlocked degree of freedom and can shift to where the highest and lowest deviation becomes equal.
