So this has happened a couple times, not sure if its easy to explain... The auto sphere size is correct but you can see that the probe wants to take hits past the sphere size you can see in this picture. I have tried to reload the CAD in various files. Has anyone seen this?
Not seeing that feature, I don't think this is available with the auto sphere
I guess its not just auto sphere its all auto features, and adaptive scan looks fine. The machine will try and move past the part before it takes the hit.
This is a bore into a half sphere; I'm just showing how it's going past the actual CAD no matter what auto feature I choose. The second picture in the thread is an auto-circle, just to show that it's not only the sphere feature that does the same thing.
So auto features will generate hits based on the centroid of a feature, so if the cad model is missing/or has added material where a "perfect" feature would exist it's going to interfere with the hit locations. you can move individual points to make them contact on actual cad surfaces.
personally i'd take a few auto points on the surfaces you're evaluating and evaluate them as a profile.
Auto point does the same thing, This is not for all programs but just need to keep a lookout for it because it definitely doesn't take the hits correctly. Wanted to see if anyone else has this problem.
i apologize but I'm still not understanding the problem clearly then. Are you taking an auto point on a defined cad surface and it's somehow how generating properly? or is the CMM taking the point incorrectly?
if any of that is true then there could very likely be an issue with the CAD model.
