Before anyone gets upset, I really did try to search for the question before submitting it. I'm sure its a question thats been asked a million times before so I am surprised that i sis not find it. Anyways, I would like to start doing contract programming, but I am told that the software is like 15 grand yearly-and yeah, I dont have that kind of money. Someone in my programming cirlcle (been a PC-DMIS programmer for over 20 years now) told me that they rent the software on a monthly basis as well. Is this true? And if so does anyone know how much it cost?
I mean, technically, you only need to buy it once, right? Shops are running almost 10-year-old software, and if the company that you will write programs for has older or newer software, you can save the file to the year of release they have. And offline, I think, is cheaper; that's all you will need, and then you can fine-tune things in the shop if need be.
