Is anyone on here familiar or have worked with the EasyCMM Software to be able to run PCDMIS on a different CMM? I currently am having trouble with it and looking for some advice or wisdom on the software. Using this software to be able to run PC-DMIS on our Mitutoyo CMM.
Just my gut feeling, smells like trouble to me. Introducing a foreign piece to a puzzle is always a bad idea. If I wanted to run the demon on a Mitutoyo, I'd have Hexagon do the install. So many settings and variables to contend with. I just don't think you will be able to take this software, do an install and run PC-DMIS flawlessly.
i worked at a shop and after a few months of struggling with MCOSMOS i was able to convince the bean counters to retrofit the CMM with PCDMIS. after the retrofit was done, my sanity returned and I was in heaven. what a dumpster fire that software is.
i had another shop reach out to me on some advice on what CMM they should get. I recommended everything but MITUTOYO.
they went with MITUTOYO and 6 months later they bought a Zeiss to replace it. its not the machine, it's the software.
It is BOTH the machine and the Software. PC-DMIS on a Leitz has been a nightmare. PC-DMIS on the Global has been fine. Too bad the Global will never be as accurate as the Leitz. My only two choices are Leitz and Zeiss Prismo.

Easy CMM only helps PC-DMIS communicate with the CMM controller. Yes, if you do choose to use it, Have a Tech from Hexagon set it up. Easy CMM does offer DEMO's so you can try it before you buy it...
I would stay clear of Verisurf and would try PCDMIS or CALYPSO. Both can handle more GD&T than any other software and are more intuitive than Verisurf. Report building, program automation is much easier with PCD or Calypso.
So i got in contact with EasyCmm and the had an update apparently to fix issues and one of the issues that i had was fixed. The other issue i was having was a random or ghost movepoint. With that, not sure why it happens, but its from PC-DMIS it would just randomly go to a position after taking a feature. I turned off avoidance moves and it hasnt happened since and the programs run smoothly.
Yes, I have a Zeiss machine with conversion software and we run PC-DMIS on it. If you use adaptive scans and clearance plane it always make a ghost move. Not sure why It hates the combination of the two features combined, but I'm sure that we have never updated the conversion software in the last 7 years
