Scanning a cast housing

I've got a part that I'm finishing up the programming that our previous programmer had been working on. It's a housing that gets cast and later machined. but for the cast stage our drawing has a bunch of surface profile callouts. I noticed the scans that he had were set to master. My understanding is that if you have a reference part that's fine, but to my knowledge we don't, just the CAD model. Would it be advantageous to change this?

The only useful thing for that is (I THINK!!!) is running it OFFLINE the first time so that it 'measures' the cad nominals, which would then be the program nominals from that point forward. Which, IMO, is silly since the scans SHOULD already be at nominal if they were generated when created. Whenever I create a scan, I generate it, then create it, and I usually use RELEARN & FIND NOMS as well.
  • Yes, change measured features to NOMINALS, Master will set whatever features measured nominals to part you measured!
