So I have a 454 with a manual head where the probe isn't indexed or changed for the part its checking. We recently added another part and it requires a 2 different probes and some probe rotations. We've noticed that sometimes when switch from part A to part B and vice versa that the results can be way out of tolerance. If a calibration is done on the probes and the parts are remeasured, then parts come back in to tolerance.
Perhaps we are man handling the probes too much? Anyone else experience this?
have you calibrated both probes and then checked a known standard to see if the results correlate?
try calibrating both probes, then checking a ring gage to make sure the results for both probes match.
