Can't change nominals on 2023 Geotol

We are working on a plan to update from 2017. In 2017 Xact let you change nominals for GDT outputs....it seems in Geotol it is a slave to the CAD model nominals, which as we all know can sometimes not be what we want.

Is there a way to change the nominals in Geotol?

Thanks.

  • I've taken the GeoTol class and nominals should never be an issue because in reality we should never write a program "to CAD" because as Neil stated CAD can be off from what the drawing states. I work in medical and the rounding up and down from these design suck big time. I make my nominals correct and will cast a feature and fix the nominals so when we do go 2020R2 (possibly early next year) or newer my programs won't be giving us fits like this. Most of us older programmers have learned that the DEMON is not perfect and you learn to cheat (legitimately of course) to make it work for you.

  • ALL my prints state something like this:

    CAD IS MASTER

    or

FOR REFERENCE ONLY - CAD MODEL IS MASTER

or various other wording, all boiling down to the same thing, the CAD file is master for EVERYTHING.

I also get notes along the lines of "CAD MODEL HAS ALL BASIC DIMENSIONS " or some such twaddle.
  • So how do you evaluate profile without using the CAD nominals?
  • D. Hoedeman None of our customers note this on their drawings. I wish they did at times as some of the drawings that we get are a nightmare to read with all of the geometry being defined regarding the articulating surfaces of a knee implant.

Johnson Surface profile evaluation is back to CAD but tolerancing position is where I see nominals change especially when the design people don't carry enough decimal places. I cannot report a positional tolerance with the basic dimensions being off the .0005" from CAD when the print only shows 2 or decimal places. I've had this discussion with customer SQEs when the DEMON spit out nominals that were not what the drawing showed but what CAD showed. In 99.999% of my world the print is master
