measuring an edge using the CMM, correcting hits?

I'm using a 1mm diameter by 20mm length probe. Trying to measure the plane created by the edge of this part using the CMM.

Would any of you gurus have a good idea how I can optimize this measurement?

I was able to display a CAD graph showing the plane and the hits that appear to be out of tolerance. Is there any way to "correct" the hits so that they are on the correct plane? i.e. adjusting the Z values?

The part is currently orientated pretty level to the CMM table.

It depends on some parameters...
Do you search the height or the flatness ?
Do you have a scanning head ?
I would first measure the hole, and dimension the diameter.
Then, I would use a ball larger than the hole (like Ø35 of the SP600). More the diameter is large, more the error of probing is few.
I would create an auto center point, origin XY on it, calculate the Z and probe some hits at the diameter of the hole.

Measure the inner diameter, origin in that.
Enable DCC
Create an autoplane, plane-circle/circular plane (or what it is called), adjust the diameter size of the plane accordingly.
Measure.

Adding to that...are you trying to measure that plane at 90°? Would be better to do at A0B0 if at all possible
