Help needed on surface profile

Good morning.

I am working on changing a fixtured program to free state program. When I worked on some surface profiles, I was confused with @u symbol, I thought It should be 1.775/2 ,0, but the previous program is +1.4 -0.375, Anyone could explain to me about it or kindly send me some material links I could learn ?

Thank you

  • 1.775 (U) 0.375 means that the total tolerance band is 1.775 with 0.375 "stock on" and the rest 'stock off'. the breakdown of +/- will depend on which side you are checking it from. This is assuming a sheet metal or plastic part (thin wall parts vs big chuck of material, can't check chucks from opposite side).

Next issue is if the arrow is used correctly, pointing at the correct side of stock, etc.
