Datum Target Points (Iterative Alignment) Question

Hello. It is very infrequent that I have to program something using an iterative alignment, so I am a bit rusty. Can someone review the "blueprint" I drew to verify that this can be done using a standard iterative alignment? I am concerned about B1 and B2...will the software automatically create a sort of midpoint between B1 and B2 and clock to that midpoint about cylinder A?

I just want to make sure, because this isn't a standard cylinder, line, point setup, so I want to make sure PC-DMIS will calculate that without any additional inputs.

  • Iterative will not work on that.

Iterative will look to control all the A point back to a datum (like an offset plane) - all A points should have similar vectors.

I'd think Level to a cylinder 'A' and rotate to mid of 'B' and origin on face 'C' would be what the designer intended, but your guess is as good as mine as to why they've dimensioned it that way.
