How to scan a curve imported along with the CAD geometry in the software ?

Hi All,

At our facility we have bought a Hexagon Global Advantage and are using 2023.1 PC DIMS. We were informed that the system is capable of scanning curves on the job from a 3D model. Currently we are given an impellor with a step file that includes its defining curves. We are supposed to scan this job along the given theoretical curves to find the deviation from it. I have tried several methods and explored the forum in great depth, but I am unable to arrive at a proper solution. I am totally clueless about how to even start doing it. As a start I tried to scan along the periphery curve only using perimeter scanning as I can select the outer periphery that defines the curve, but it returned with number of hits = 0(check attachment).

Could anyone please direct me to a proper reference to achieve this ? I have been trying hard since a couple of weeks.

Thanks and Regards
