Auto Feature - Plane on an angled surface

Hope I can explain this properly. I have a part with compound angled surfaces that I want to use Auto Feature Plane command on to give me an equally spaced plane. When I do this on a plane that is only rotated upon one axis, like photo below, it works properly.

However, if the slot is angled along 2 directions, I get the below.

Any suggestions to get auto plane to work like in screen shot 1?

Thanks!

  • Copy your first plane, select define pattern and set the angle of rotation and paste pattern.

Sometimes I like to do things manually so I create the plane like you did on your first picture. Then insert an alignment above the plane feature and rotate zaxis by the angle that the second plane is rotated at. Answer No to changing nominals. Then delete the alignment and answer Yes to changing nominals. PCDmis will update your plane feature to have the correct parameters.

Of course, you can also rotate your alignment by whatever angle and create the same plane each time too.
