I know if you double click on the label ID's with the right mouse button, it brings up a menu that you can turn them off. Can you turn label ID's on and off in a pull-down menu? If yes, which one(s)?
You can also use Viewsets to turn them on and off automatically as you move through your program.
Although anyone besides the person who sets up the view sets will likely want to flip their desk if they need to look through your program at a later date....
