Single Sided Tolerance

Dimension Ø200.000 +0.015 / +0.084, how do I tolerance this using PCDMIS. I can only see +/- tolerance fields.
Think I'm having a senior moment, but just cannot seem to work it out
  • You can either set Pcdmis to use + and - tolerance, in which case you MUST type in a negative tolerance value for every negative tolerance thru the entire program OR you can enter 0.015 for the positive tolerance and NEGATIVE 0.084 for the negative tolerance. Personally, I would use the 0.08 for the positive tolerance and NEGATIVE 0.015 for the negative tolerance, that keeps the positive tolerance the biggest value.
  • I know for us, we try to have our operators target a specific value, especially if it's an SPC feature, or equally dispose the tolerance. In this case the equally disposed nominal would be 200.0495±0.0345 on the report. It helps them "see" their targeting better.

If the actual CMM report is going to the customer, then maybe you can run a IF/THEN statement to show internal specified target and tolerance vs customer print target and tolerance.

But as Matt suggested above, this is how to do it if keep print tolerances on the report.
  • in the negative tolerance area just put a "-" before the smaller tolerance of .084 which will calculate it as a double negative i believe...
