Clearance cube direction

Hi there, I have a scenario where the clearance cube move path doesn't follow the probe vector OR the chosen current alignment axis.

In the picture below, I have the alignment so my Z-Axis is along the same vector as the probe (see the green arrow). I would assume that by selecting "+Z" and "-Z" in the clearance cube settings window it would follow my current alignment, but I would be wrong. Can anyone educate me as to how to make that probe path follow the probe vector or the current z-axis?

Also, changing it to "Use Tip Vector" makes it go sideways out of the part, not along the tip vector.

  • Hello J Fournier,
Clearance Cube is defined in CAD Co-ordinate system. When you select axis for clearnace cube motion, you are selecting axis in CAD alignment.

Your expectation seems to be in Part alingment which is not parallel to CAD alignment.

As a result, you think that it is not working.

It looks taht you are using version 2023.1.

May I recommend you to use PC-DMIS 2023.2 and higher. Significant changes are implemented in version 2023.2
I believe it will resolve many of your issues.

We do have plan to enhance Clearance Cube motion by selecting axis in part alignment. Stay tuned and you will see such a post in forum.
