How to post topic in forum without the "New" button in upper right

In case anyone else has this problem - I've been locked out of posting/replying on here for a while. There's a subtlety to the instructions. I came from the old forum and I didn't realize that you actually need to reset your password to post here (even though it says it quite clearly). It let me log in with my old password but I couldn't post or respond until I changed it.

That is quite the odd interaction. You would think it would automatically redirect you to a password reset upon first login with your old password. That's good to know.
