Lifespan of HP-S-X1C head

Hello all,

I am curious about the lifespan of these heads. We have around  5 Tigos with these heads and 2 of them sometimes not register hits and stop on point. This behavior comes totally in random times and I start to believe that they have reached their lifecycle limit. (one actually has been crushed so maybe it is also the problem :P ).

I cannot find this info in the manual and a fast search here was not fruitful also. Thanks in advance for the replies or references Slight smile

  • I have had a head last over 10 years on one machine and another that was dead in 5. Both were on global 555's. We just had to replace a head a few months ago that was about 4 years old on a green 7.10.7. Pretty hard to determine life expectancy but the one we just recently replaced has a lot of use. Some programs having up to 12 wrist angle changes and multiple probe changes. I think the more wrist changes the lower the lifespan in my opinion. Any crashes/operator abuse would most certainly contribute to early failure as well I imagine. The one that only lasted 5 years had many crashes from inexperienced inspectors.
