Updated model, quick way to update selected CAD on 200 Scans.

Hey guys,

Is there a quick way to update selected CAD for scans that have "Only Selected." Turned on when a CAD model implemented?

The program I'm working on has a lot of scans in it, around 200 in total. Everything was originally made with 3 scans that had the correct CAD selected, then a lot paste with patterns where used. the model has been updated, and the cad is no longer selected. I'm looking to avoid needing open up every individual scan and updating the selected cad, that would be about 4 to 6 hours of rework. Then if there's an update later down the line, i would need to do it again.

Is there a way to select cad and apply the items selected to all / specific scans?

Is "Update Nominals from CAD" the only way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

P.S.

The items I'm scanning are pretty close to other features, if "Only Selected is not turned on. it has a tendency to snap to other features.

  • If you're feeling brave you can use Excel macros to record your keystrokes. Alt+Tab (to switch to PCDmis), F9 into feature, tab "x" amount of times for correct setting, Keystroke to perform desired task, press Enter to finalize changes.

I use this when I have a repetitive task that takes 10-15 seconds to complete. The macro can take that 10-15 seconds and turn it into 3-4.  Its doesn't work every time but can be a huge time saver if used effectively.

Depending on how in depth you make your macro it could do this pretty quickly..... but it could also cause absolute chaos.
