Probe "dancing" during calibration and/or execution

We are running a rather long probe build and using it some horizontal wrist angles.  The problem is that during both calibration and execution of the program, the probe will start "dancing".  It might take a hit, but then it will start moving back and forth in a short stroke.  Then the light goes out in the head, almost as if the probe because dislodged, but it hasn't because we can see that it is not.  See attached probe build.  We even swapped out the TP20 and that didn't help.  Any ideas?  I'm about at my wit's end.

  • this is where the TP2 system is vastly superior to the TP20 system.  YOU control the force of the unit, there is a tiny little screw in the 8mm thread of the TP2 and you can crank it UP or drop it down.  Longest probe I ever used on the TP2 was about 6" long, and 6mm ball probe (about an inch longer than his).  Still had to slow the old Validator down, but it calibrated and measured fine.  Luck it was only for a 'short' use project.
