I don't know what this check box is supposed to do, but I have found that one of our older CMM controllers does not support it. I can't recall the exact machine behavior, but I know it didn't complete all of the scans. Once I un-checked it, the feature would measure as expected. Checking that box did not seem to make a change to the measurement results on the machines that support it, so I just don't use that feature.
I see that there is also a scanning strategy called "Cylinder Centering Thread Scan Strategy". I haven't used that before, but it might have the same issues with older controllers.
does F1 give any info when you hit it with that window open?
No, it takes me straight to the main page for auto features.
I did dig a little deeper and found an explanation about that check box. It says: "If you select this check box, it turns on a filter on B3 controllers to increase accuracy when scanning threads."
Huh. Now I want to know more about that filter and what it does.
