Losing Calibration Results

Good Morning Guys.

Both of my CMM'S have started to lose their calibration results. I had to recalibrate all but 2 probes on our new CMM, and had to calibrate 2 probes on our older one. Today we ran a job just fine, an hour later we went to check another part on the same job and it said the tip/probe was uncalibrated. It isn't like the whole probe was deleted. But when you go into probe management all the tips for the probe has the asterisk next to them saying they haven't been calibrated. I checked the search paths and both cmms are going to the correct place to look for the probe info.

I haven't come across this problem before and couldn't find anything in the forum.

  • That's most probably the issue then.  Either the PC-DMIS application itself, or the user account you are running under doesn't have full read/write permission for that network location.  F.Y.I storing probe files on a network is not recommended.  Aside from the permissions related problems that can arise, you can also have problems if the connection drops.  Furthermore, if you have multiple machines they ABSOLUTELY MUST store probe files locally.  Having multiple machines accessing the same file at the same time is extremely bad.  It will lead to nonsense measurement results, corrupted files and potentially crash machines.
