GeoTol Dimensioning (Beginner Question)

Good morning,

I normally program in Legacy mode. However, I want to brush up on some of my GeoTol skills. Lets say I have a cylindrical part with holes drilled into the side at various angles. I've picked up the datums and holes (autocircles or autocylinders). Then, I've defined the datums. When I go to dimension the true position (relative to 3 datums), do I need to rotate my alignment to be true to each hole (rotate to the angle of each hole) prior to dimensioning the GeoTol True Position? That's what I do when I program in Legacy mode. Sorry, I know it's a really beginner programming question.

  • No you do not need to, but I would say why not keep doing it? Sure you may have to recall more alignments for other features in reporting. It's good practice to always have in the event you do not use GeoTol it will still work for you using Legacy. With GeoTol if you notice, instead of the Red/Blue/Green Trihedron arrows there is Yellow arrows with Blue arrow tips representing that datum structure if your cursor is on that reported dimension
