Custom Quick Fixture Won't Import

I've been creating custom fixtures. I added them to the quick fixture library on my laptop no problem. But when I tried adding them to the CMM computer they won't import. Doesn't give me an error message. It just gets stuck here for eternity.

I tried copying and pasting them into the QUICKFIX folder. That didn't work either.

  • Turns out PC-DMIS doesn't like files coming from my One-Drive. I tried to bring in my model just as a regular model and not a quick fixture. And I kept getting an "Unspecified Error" message. I tried several different models from that folder, and none worked.  Tried a random model from a network folder and it imported just fine. So, then I moved a model from my One-Drive folder to a network folder and it worked!

  • I only recently started using One-Drive where I work, as we have used Network Drives for decades. I never use One-Drive at home for personal use either, so I was not familiar with all the quirks of it. But I did notice that all files in the One-Drive folder may be synced with the cloud icon, but once you open them once they get a green checkmark, I believe that is it saving a copy to your local storage. One-Drive may work, but the file may need that green checkmark first as if you've opened it at least once. If you are curious, try that out. Only issue is that you may need SolidWorks or general CAD software to even open a CAD file for it to be saved locally.

But in the end, your solution makes the most sense. Just have the file stored somewhere else but One-Drive first.

  • All my files in that folder had green checkmarks. The weird thing is that the offline seat on my laptop uses my One-Drive folder just fine. All my search path folders on my laptop are set to my One-Drive folder. I set up all my offline quick fixtures from models I saved on One-Drive. Something about the CMM computer doesn't like it.
