I know you can check if a file exists, however if it does not and you still want to write to the file is there a way to generate the file through pc-dmis?

Yes, if you set the file open type to "append", it will create the file.
However, it will not create new folders. If you need to create folders as well, there is an example routine you can download from the PC-DMIS homepage that shows you how to do it.
