Calibration of 4mm disk probe

Hi,

I have a 4mm disk probe and am having trouble with calibration—I just can't get it properly calibrated. First, I calibrated the sphere probe  and then started calibrating the disk probe.

I selected DCC mode and selected NO where it asks if the calibration tool moved.

Connects are  SP25M,TM25 , TP20_MODULE, EXTEN40mm,

TIP angle is A0B0

In the calibration mode I used Start angles from -10 to -1 and End angles from 10 to 1, with a frequency of 0.5°. It's set to 15 hits and 3 levels.  None of the angels were OK. The calibration result fluctuates around Ø3.925±0.003 with a StdDev from 0.006 to 0.009.

The disk is asembled properly I am using same disk as in this video: www.youtube.com/watch

Is there anything else what I can do.  I have  8mm disk and calibration on it is succsessful with angles -5 and 5, 15 hits, 3 levels.

  • Anze,

if you go to the tips and tricks section of the forum, I shared some documentation of using custom disc probes and how to calibrate them. Although this documentation is focused on around the rollers on some disc probes, if may give you some other ideas to try for your calibration.

how did you decide the angles -10 to -1 for example?
you need to make sure you are not hitting with an angle that is beyond the edge of the disc. Without doing any calculation, 10degs seems too high.
