Auto Cylinder Start Point

Question - Why Does Auto Cylinder start at the bottom level of cylinder?

Yes, I know I can flip the vector of the feature to get it to start at the top but, when programming parts with hundreds of (threaded) holes, this gets tedious. In my head it would make more sense to either default to start at top level, or at least have an option to toggle top or bottom level.

When using fly mode, this becomes very problematic when jumping holes, as the controller wants to round the path and head straight for the bottom of the hole. In many cases, the solution to this is to just turn Fly mode off... This is also problematic when thinking of efficiency and implementing time saving tactics.

Please discuss.

  • Yeah, Id seen that post when searching earlier. The current Help file shows the same description, minus the parts about controlling the radius. Which again is a vague description IMO, and is misleading as it seems to be active for more than just move points. Additionally, I've yet to have PC-DMIS tell me I've placed the Fly mode command in an illegal position, and I've also been able to add the Fly mode command before ever creating a move point.
