PC DMIS Offline programming for Romer

PC-Dmis Cad 4.3 MR1

I know this part of the forum is for CMM but there is only one person on the portable forum so I dont think I would get much help there.
I want to write a program offline for our new Romer arm. I only have PC Dmis Cad 4.3 on my computer. We have PC Dmis Portable on the computer where the arm is located. So basically what I think I need to do is get the Probe files for the arm from the pc that runs the portable software and put those files on my pc at my desk. That way I won’t get errors when I try to right a program offline. I will be able to call up the Romer probe offline. Can this be done, or do I need to install the Portable software on my pc? If it can be done can anyone tell me how to do it?

We have only just had a Romer arm demo & after witnessing the choreography in action we got to quiz him about compatibility with our Cmm computer & software & programs already written.

“Whatever program you write on each will be compatible with the other”. That is what the man said. This is dependant on both Cmm & Romer having same version (ish) of software which sounds like your case.

The only difference, a program off the Romer will need probes adding to run on the Cmm & one written on the Cmm will need the probes & move points etc stripped out.

From the demo itself it looked to be quicker to write the program with the arm itself than to sit down & do it offline. For instance we collared an unfortunate worker strolling by & under ‘step by step’ instruction he had the Romer & test piece & CAD model aligned & measuring in about 26secs. Not bad for a 1st time effort.
