Portable Questions

I have been running PC-DMIS on our CMM for 5 years now. None of the new fancy stuff though just 3.5r2. We bought a INFINITE 2.0 and it came with Polyworks. Polyworks does great things for the scanning side of things but as far as probing parts goes we hate it. So my question to you is how close in comparison will my DCC version of PC-DMIS be to this portable? Will I be able to pick it up fairly quickly. As far as alignments go, will I be able to square up on a face and report True Position in 2 axis? For example I have a picture here showing my Z squared to the highlighted face in red and the rest following Right hand Rule. Can I recreate this alignment on Portable version?

  • PCDmis Portable is just PCDmis. The software is only slightly different to how it runs on a DCC CMM. You should have no problem with that.
The differences are in how you physically take measurements. With a PCMM, there are some nice tools in PCDmis to help you take measurements. I would say that you will have a few questions, but if you've been running PCDmis for 5 years, you should do just fine.
