tight hole tol. with Romer

We have a couple of jobs that have hole tol. of +- .0005 and one job with a tol. of +.0002 -.0005

Checked with the bore gage OK but Romer says +.0017 on many of them ??

I think we were told its not very accurate on tight hole tol. but that much ???

I wouldn't really expect any better than what you are seeing. In fact, less than 0.005" is a dangerous thing to check with any arm.

The accuracy is only .0016. So that's probably correct.

Not to say an arm is the perfect tool for your application but on a ring gauge I would expect to see accuracy within a tenth or 2 up to 4". Arms can be very accurate for small measurements like that. The spec for a given arm is for its entire volume and single point repeatability, both exercise the principle axes far more than hole diameter.
