I am trying to figure out if there is a way to scan one side of a part, flip it over and then scan the opposite side of the part. Then take both of the scans and match them together using common points between the scans. I am assuming two COPs need to be made so one can move to the other but I am new to pretty much any measuring software, I am more of a CAD guy but they are starting my training on both a CMM and P-CMM. If it were in a CAD program I would be able to just manipulate where the points are no problem but just can't figure it out using the PC-DMIS software. Any information would be greatly appreciated because I was told it is possible just don't know how to go about it.
Suspend the part between two "centers" so you have access to all sides at once. Sort of like when putting a part on a wood lathe, just don't spin the part.
