Taking points using a Romer Arm.

Is it possible to use a Romer Arm and PCDMIS to create a model of a Tube Fixture by taking MANY points on the fixture itself?
  • You cannot create a model in the same way that CAD software does, but you can export various measured entities as an iges file.
You can measure cylinders and they will export as surfaces.
Circles will look like 2D circles.
Points will just look like points.
I sometimes use this functionality to simulate fixture components to assist with programming (shows me where blocks and clamps will be so I can avoid them), and to help me create setup graphics.
For instance, below is a setup graphic that I created. All of the black or grey features were created with exported PC-DMIS features that I created before I wrote the program. Then I deleted the features and imported(and merged) the iges file that I created from them.
